04/27 – 05/03

04/27 – 05/03

04/27/2015 – Monday – Rest

04/28/2015 – Tuesday – Rest
Big mileage and vert last week and my legs are feeling the effects. A little extra rest please.

04/29/2015 – Wednesday
15m, 2:13, ~1000′ – Lake Union
If I’m going to run flats in the city, it should be with as much waterside as I can find.

04/30/2015 – Thursday
11m, 1:44, ~1100′ – CH
Maybe I’m pushing it just a bit much. Left 4th and/or 5th metatarsal progressively got worse as the run went on. Ben joined up after a few miles and we cruised through the swanky homes of Madison Valley and Madison Park that have garages 5 and 6 times as large as my place. I slowed to a gentle ‘conversational pace’ but concentrated so much on mitigating the pain that the conversation reduced to simple answers of  ‘yes’ and ‘no’. The pain has been getting worse the past couple of weeks, so I may go see a doctor.

05/01/2015 – Friday – Rest
Foot is so sore that I limped the mile to work and back home. The only other time I don’t like walking to work is when the weather is ridiculously nasty outside.

05/02/2015 – Saturday – Rest
Tried to make an appointment directly with a physical therapist that I’ve heard is an endurance runner herself, but was told I have to have a referral. A bit frustrating since I’m pretty sure I  already know the issue, so I really just need help in how to make it better, but I went ahead and made an appointment with my doctor. Resting a day or two more to see if the foot gets any better.

05/03/2015 – Sunday – Rest
The Wandering Beard was back in town from Saint Louis and I was bummed not to be joining him and K for a run at Cougar Mountain. Instead I played chauffeur and jealously took the boys out for a brisk walk while they galavanted through the woods. I’m a little bummed. I should be working my way to a peak mileage week, but if I’m hurt and injured the day of the race, it won’t matter how much training I get in now.

Weekly running miles: ~26.3
Weekly running time: 3:57
Weekly running vertical gain:
 ~2,080′
