06/08 – 06/14
06/08/2015 – Monday – Rest
06/09/2015 – Tuesday
5m, 0:56, ~400′ – CH
2 weeks out, I’m in full taper mode now. We did one our usual Capitol Hill loops, this one our 5 mile loop.
06/10/2015 – Wednesday – Taper
Less miles. Less running days. That’s what the plan (that I made) calls for.
06/11/2015 – Thursday
6m, 0:56, ~1000′ – CH
One of my other usual Capitol Hill loops, although I guess this one is more Madison Park, Madison Valley, Lake Washington. It’s been a busy, long week at work, so these usual, know them like the back of my hand route is comforting, mind-numbing, and a good litmus fitness test. Today, I didn’t care. I just ran. And it was great.
06/12/2015 – Friday – Taper
06/13/2015 – Saturday
10m, 1:31, 1500′ – Cougar
My last long run until Mohican and I took it faster than I probably should have (I think), but I’ve had so many recent hiking outings that I felt like I needed to get out and get a bit of speed to remind myself what it’s like to run continuously. Unknowingly I crashed the tail end of a Cougar Mountain Series race, but since they were announcing winners as I was headed out, I didn’t think it would be too much of a problem as long as I didn’t hold any runners back or take any aid station water or food. I did though take advantage of the course markings already up and ran the majority of the 8 mile route, before veering off and tacking on two additional miles for a full 10. I must say the course is well marked, fair, but challenging for 8 miles. If I didn’t have a race coming up, I might have thought about running this one.
